| Thinking of joining a Four Wheel Drive Club? |
|
Well, there are many good reasons and the ones listed below I hope will show you that there is something for everyone. I guess that is easy to say but I have been a member of a 4WD club now for 18 years. During that time my wife and family have enjoyed through our 4WD Club, many nights out, many trips away, seen parts of this country that we would never have attempted on our own, and made many new friends and acquaintances. During that time our tastes have changed, after all we are 18 years older, but the 4WD club we joined has always provided the sort of activities that kept our interest. There are 4WD Clubs serving all types of interests. Do you like doing any of the following things? - Learning to use your 4WD to its full potential. Almost all 4WD clubs provide driver training at virtually no cost.
- Taking yourself and family off with a group of like minded people, on an interesting day or weekend trip where someone experienced works out the details of where you are going and what to bring.
- Taking yourself and family off on a trip for a week or more to a location somewhere in Australia, knowing you are in the company of people who have planned the trip, researched what to see, know what you need, and like you, want to have a good time.
- Taking your family away with other families where your children mix with others and parents get to relax themselves. Most 4WD Clubs are very family friendly.
- Getting involved with Land Managers like National Parks & Wildlife Service and doing agreed projects to look after the bush, tracks, heritage sites and park facilities. All done as a 4WD club and all rewarding.
- Getting involved in the community from projects as diverse as Clean Up Australia, driving disadvantaged children at Stockton Beach, helping at Kids Race Day (raising Funds for Cancer at Oran Park), raising Funds for the Royal Flying Doctor. Almost all 4WD Clubs have a community project of their own and are often involved in Association projects.
- Participating in 4WD events or assisting in the organisation, like marshalling. There are many event opportunities in the calendar of 4WD Clubs and you can take your family if interested.
- Having social days and nights out with people like you who love their vehicles, have much in common and enjoy anything from a picnic in the park, family Christmas day, to eating at a restaurant.
Depending on what you like doing, will influence what 4WD Club suits you. If you have a particular make of vehicle, there is generally a Club that will work for you however, most 4WD Clubs accept all 4WD vehicles and many now accept All Wheel Drive Vehicles. Many like camping in the bush, others prefer more up market accommodation or a bit of both. Most 4WD clubs are now trailer friendly. No one 4WD Club is the same but all have much in common, a love of the country and the bush, enjoyment from the range of activities that the flexibility of their vehicle's offer, and a desire to have fun. Most people who join a 4WD club experience the camaraderie that develops from involvement in a 4WD Club; you get back what you put in.
If you do want to look at joining a 4WD Club I suggest you click on "Club Locations" on the left field of the website. That will enable you to look at 4WD Clubs in your area or simply look through the names of Clubs and then explore more by clicking on the Club and reading more detail. I suggest that you then visit one or more 4WD Clubs to see if they are what you are after. I hope you decide to join one of the many affiliated 4WD Clubs in NSW and ACT and like me, experience many years of enjoyment for yourself and family.
Best wishes,
